Wood Boiler – Keeping out the Winter cold

I know a lot of people don’t enjoy the winter and its cold weather. While I can understand why many people feel this way, I have always really enjoyed the winter. If you are wondering why I like the winter, I actually have several answers to this question.

To begin with, I actually like the winter weather. While that may sound strange to you, I think I have a good reason to like the winter weather. I really enjoy wearing multiple layers of clothes and getting bundled up, which is why I like the winter weather so much. Although I would sweat to death if I dressed like that during the summer, it works perfectly during the winter, and it also keeps me quite warm, so I never have to worry about the winter weather negatively impacting me.

The next reason that I like the winter time is snow. Since I was a little girl, I have always loved the snow. Whether it is just a light dusting or an all out snow storm, I don’t think there is anything more beautiful than looking outside of your window and seeing your entire view covered in white. Snow is simply amazing, and I know that I will never stop loving.

The last reason I like winter is because I think it brings my family together. Because we are at home more during the winter time, we have more opportunities to spend time with each other. I don’t think there is anything better than gathering around our wood boiler with a cup of hot chocolate and playing a game or watching a movie with each other!

Requirements That Wood Boilers Must Meet

Filed under: Wood Boiler - 16 Sep 2011  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Wood boilers are heating tools which use wood gasification processes, which are an economic and convenient method of wood heating into the 21st century. Wood is a renewable source, so it guarantees unlimited supply of sustainable energy. Using a wood boiler is a perfect way to save money and energy as well, but before you purchase one you have to know the requirements that a wood boiler must meet in order to be efficient.

First, you must know that the wood boiler produces hot water and it is used with hydronic radiant heating systems, forced-air heating systems, and other applications that use hot water. Then, if you live in an area where smoke might be an irritant to neighbors, or where local agencies are enforcing emission standards or periodic “burn bans,” you will want a unit that produces little or no smoke. All wood-fired devices produce smoke when cold-started, but clean burning units reach low emission levels in minutes. Thermal efficiency indicates how well the unit converts wood fuel into useable energy for home heating, so you will want a wood boiler who heat more, but burns less, so on the long term you will save some money.

The wood boiler must also be safety certified, which means that it has been tested by a qualified independent laboratory, which has then certified that the wood boiler complies with the safety standards established in your country. It makes perfect sense to buy a unit that has tested for safety, because it is for your own protection. Also, you must check that the safety certificate is valid, because you can never know. It would be indicated that you get some help when you install the wood boiler in your home, because it can be dangerous and it is better to be installed by a professional. After all, you will be the one who will enjoy all the benefits of the wood boiler and cold will be a word that you will not recognize anymore.

Greenwood Wood Boiler

Filed under: Wood Boiler - 21 Sep 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

The cost of heating water for your showers or baths can be expensive in the winter months. If there was a way to save money on these home energy costs, I’m sure many people would jump at the opportunity. Because water heating is by far the most inefficient process that goes on in your home, Greenwood adopted a new idea that helps make water heating much easier and more efficient. By using a piece of technology they call a wood boiler, Greenwood is able to help customers cut energy costs and get the same hot water they’re used to delivered straight to their kitchen sinks and bathrooms.

Wood boilers are a very simple concept. Instead of using electricity and a hot water heater to create hot water, wood boilers burn wood to heat the water instead. Simply put the wood inside the wood boiler and the heated wood will make enough hot water for your entire household. Wood boilers are often confused with traditional boilers, as the word boiler usually refers to something that creates hot steam instead of hot water. Greenwood has since changed the name of their wood boiler to a wood-fired boiler instead. Before you rush out and buy a Greenwood boiler for your backyard, know that wood boilers are banned in many states and can’t be used without special permission from neighborhood associations or the county. Contact your city officials before you purchase a Greenwood wood boiler to make sure that you’re allowed to install it without any problems. Wood boilers are expensive and it would be a real shame if you had to send it back because of zoning issues.

When it comes to energy it is not easy for us to pay for. Energy taxes have risen exponentially and we need to save as much money as we possibly can. We can do this with the invention of the wood boiler. Having your own home made wood boiler can save you a little bit of cash on your electricity. When it comes to wood boiler plans it would be a surreal idea to make sure that you live in an area that has a lot of trees, or access to wood.

Wood boilers are mostly uses as a way to produce heat than for the use of creating electricity. Unless you plan on building an industrial sized wood boiler then you may have to get one professionally built especially if you have the room. Wood boilers are very efficient the way that they actually use a down draft wood gasification device. This device burns various woods with different levels of moisture inside of them. As the wood is burning it is supplying power to the boiler itself creating combustion. It’s almost like a windmill but in the form of wood.

If you want to find wood boilers plans that you can do yourself, the internet has an abundance of them. Make sure that you use a website that is reliable and in some cases you may have to pay to ensure you get a good, clear blueprint on building your wood boiler. Once you get your boiler set up will have the liberty of producing no cost heat in your cold winter home.

Wood Boilers

Filed under: Wood Boiler - 22 Apr 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Wood boilers are a good alternative heat source for homes, especially in areas where firewood is readily available and inexpensive. Modern wood boiler designs have very high fuel efficiency and very low particulate emissions, so they can be used even in areas that have winter air pollution problems, depending upon local regulations. Some things you should consider while you are trying to decide if a wood boiler is right for you include availability of firewood and the time and labor required for running the wood boiler system.

If you live in an area where firewood is abundant, especially if you have access to a woodlot where you can cut your own, you may be able to burn wood for your home’s heat for a cost far less than you would pay for fuel oil or natural gas. Cutting your own wood can be very satisfying, but learn all of the safety precautions you need to take when using a chainsaw, cutting standing trees, and driving a heavily loaded truck. Also, make sure you have permission to cut wood before you enter private or public lands. Many private landowners are happy to have someone thin out and clean up dead wood, and many federal and state public lands sell firewood cutting permits for a modest fee.

If you install a wood boiler, you will have to devote the time and labor necessary to keep it fueled and running throughout the winter. If you use hardwoods such as oak or apple, you will get more heat output per cord of firewood, so you won’t have to feed the boiler as often to maintain your home’s temperature. Softwoods such as pine are lighter, easier to handle, and quicker to burn. Starting your boiler with softwoods and then switching to hardwoods after it is fully heated is a good mixed use for both kinds of wood.

A properly installed and operated wood boiler burns cleanly and efficiently, can save you money on utility bills, and can be a joy to operate.
